Great song and sound. Id like to see some? white girls dancing though. But very nicely done.
Is this song based on Vice President Omar? Suleiman who is now President of Egypt or is it the Nadya Denise Doud-Suleman of Octomom fame?? thank you.
203207ab Neither! First of all, I doubt the Octomom was even born when this song was written and first performed. Soolaimon (please note the different spelling) is a greeting. It can mean hello, peace be with you, welcome or goodbye (this is what I found out at “Song Facts,” I hope they are right!) This was an important? piece and many musicians were influenced by it. Perhaps in this context Neil is meaning “peace be with you.” But to be sure, you’d have to ask him. Soolaimon!
Great song, does anyone have a newer version video of this? Id like to see him in the hot august night? concert. I love the congos beat etc. One of his best I think.
marvalouse invention internet.Thank you for being so clever so I can hear him sing and see him? too.
This is the first time I am seeing this video. it is very nicely done. The sing is really great? and neil Diamond looks young and handsome !
This is like Elvis in ‘ where could I go ‘video in 68 comeback special, and one has has to admit this style of performance kicks the living shite out of some of the cow dung that one is? forced to listen to today !! Neil Diamond abu !!!!!!!!!!
@skepticepilleptic Yea those guys are great but you really have a narrow image of? singers. For instance Steve Perry of journey, Stevie Winwood, steve walsh of kansas and eric clapton to name just a few.
neil diamond respectable? this pretty dookie tho
i would also say tom jones too!
?
LoVe…the man and his? music
The man has more talent in his? little finger then most young performers in today’s music will ever hope to have. Thanks for the post.
Nice. Thank you? tony!
@sahajad i agree! I was introduced to Neil Diamond by my mother and grew up with his music; this is one of my favourites? – but didn’t realise quite how ‘hot’ he was!

A character in my novel “The Proper Order of Things” was named after this song. His family calls him “Simon” for short. Check it out on Amazon. If you like Neil Diamond, I think you’ll enjoy it. The main character is Caroline. Her mother was obsessed with guess? who.
I love this song, love Neil Diamond, does anybody knows what? Soolaimon means ??
@TINE1967 When I googled it, this is what I got: “Originally written for an extended piece(‘The African Trilogy’) , Soolaimon took on a life of its own when it was presented to a live audience. The title is meant to be a variation of the word ‘Salamah’, meaning? ‘Hello’ and ‘Welcome’ as well as ‘Good-bye’ and peace be with you’, in many languages.” Thanks for asking because I never woudl have searched for it!
@jnfan2011 Silly? me, I could ‘ve googled it myself, never thought about it.Thank you!
I have been looking? for a remake of the album african triology for years. I had that album back in 1973, dumb me all those wonderful albums of neil, gone.
Is that the Alvin Ailey? Dance group from NY, NY?
Neil Diamond? used to write good songs…he no longer does so.
Love? it, thanks
@ndhan72 You don’t listen to Neil anymore I think. You? no longer do so.
